This book came out this week so I can post about it! This was a fun and interesting assignment – to illustrate these two maps of Jerusalem for The Last Days of Jesus, the middle grade adaptation of Killing Jesus by Bill O’Reilly, published by Henry Holt Books for Young Readers.
One map is of Jerusalem in 4 BC; the other map is of Jerusalem in the 21st century. I had to show how much more cluttered and expanded the city is, and had to do a ton of research on ancient Jerusalem, long-lost buildings, and various other buildings. I had to be very accurate with placement/streets/scale. These started as pencil drawings and are completed digitally.
As usual, click the maps for larger versions!
Thanks to the art director, Patrick Collins, for a great assignment! I love projects where I get to learn at the same time.
WOW! This is big Elisabeth! Congrats…doing my research for your interview…well done you! June
Awesome!
Is it possible to acquire/purchase the images for use in teaching PPTs?
Please do respond! I am about to do a series of lessons on the crucifixion.
Thanks so much in advance,
Ruth W
We are teaching a New Testament religion class and would like to use your image of Old Jerusalem to print on a t-shirt for all the students. We are not selling any t-shirts. May we either buy, or use your image?
Hi,
I’m interested in possibly using your map as a small scale illustration in a book – can this be arranged?
